NBA Lockout Day 75
George Mikan, the original NBA center legend, is the focal point of this Vintage NBA clip. The first of many dominant Lakers, I'm curious to know how many pairs of glasses George broke over his career. Matt Geiger ripping into Bo Outlaw's eye-wear is hilarious towards the end. Even though he looked like an accountant, Mikan was the main reason why the league instituted goaltending and the widening of the 3-second lane.
This is probably depressing to watch if you're a Minnesota basketball fan, seeing how difficult it is to remain a Timberwolves supporter. You also get to see the emotional return of Mikan and the old school Lakers to Minneapolis in 2001. George won 5 championships in his 7 seasons in the ever developing Association, hoisting 5 of 6 championships from 1949 through 1954. Mikan passed away in 2005.
