NBA Lockout Day 68
February 22, 1987 showcased a tight regular season contest between the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers. Philly was led by a young Charles Barkley. Magic Johnson led L.A. to the 112-110 overtime road win with a gaudy 16 points, 18 assists, and 9 rebounds.
It wasn't the birthday present an injured Julius Erving wanted. Barkley giving himself the 'choke' sign after he split a pair of free throws at the end of regulation is priceless. Then you have Magic surprisingly failing in the clutch. Pat Riley would lead Hollywood to another title that season. Matt Guokas may have picked up some ulcers during this game. Nice silky smooth game-winner, James Worthy.
